Jerry Oland

Jerry Oland - banjoist (and sometime washboard player) has been playing bluegrass in the Hudson Valley for more than 30 years. Jerry has a "Bluegrass State of Mind", drawing from the sounds of Bill Monroe and Flatt and Scruggs. His strong rhythmic sense helps define Back Roads tight banjo groove. Jerry brings an enormous amount of experience to the band. He has in appeared numerous bands including The Arm Bros., Wheelhoss, The Millstone Valley Boys, Wildcat Creek, Out To Lunch, Bear Acker & Billings Gap, Stan Tyminski & Rustic Blue, and Buddy Merriam & Back Roads.

Buddy & Jerry have played together since the 1970's and Jerry appears on Buddy Merriam & Friends "Acoustic American Music" and on the bands "It's Blue Grass Time" CD's. Jerry recorded an album on the Revonah label in 1977 "Jerry Oland - Banjo and Friends."
